Find a place to live during your temporary claims adjusters jobs

We’ve had an exciting past few months here at TheBestIRS, since hundreds of claims adjusters have started their new temporary jobs all across the country. As exciting as a new job is, if an adjuster job isn’t in your home state, then you’ll most likely need to find a place to live. Depending on the length of the assignment, that could be for the long or short-term. Here are a few tips and tricks for claims adjusters who seek accommodation during temporary jobs:

1. Be open-minded.

When looking for a place to live for the short-term, claims adjusters must stay open-minded about the cost and standards they’re accustomed to. You might have to re-assess how important certain perks are, such as free WIFI, trash pick-up from your door or even sleeping in a king size bed. If you won’t be renting a car during your temporary adjuster job, you might also need to pay a little extra to live closer to the office. If you know of other claims adjusters accepting the same assignment as yourself, ask if they need a roommate. Two bedroomed accommodation would generally be cheaper per person than a one bedroom apartment. However, you should only make this an option if you’re open-minded about the situation and comfortable with the person you’d be living with.

2. Know your credit score.

You’re asking yourself, ‘Why does my credit score matter when renting an apartment?’ In today’s society, credit is necessary for basically everything: buying or leasing a car, or renting an apartment. As you search for a short-term lease, make a checklist of what you absolutely need and what you can live without. Some claims adjusters on temporary assignments in Washington recently chose to accept basic furnishings and even no furnishings in their short-term lease apartments – because they knew there were things they could live without. While furnishing an apartment for the short term can be manageable, oftentimes claims adjusters simply go to the store for an air mattress or even pack their own – if they’re driving.

After landing your next adjuster job in Texas or any of the other 49 states, the last thing you want to do is waste time finding a place to live. So, use plenty of resources. Rent.com is your friend!
